The pressure media filters investigated in this project constitute 25% of the facility's pre-treatment system, which is a "key factor" for the operation of the entire desalination plant.

According to Zach and Chen, “by investigating and characterizing the filters, we found an optimal and "healthier" way of operating the feed pumps for the filters, thus, saving the amount of energy consumed and even improving the quality of the filtrate”.
